No Matter What You Call Her, She's the Dog of the Month to Us

Sherman Oaks

Mags, Magpie, Magatha?

Say hello to Maggie, Sherman Oaks’ August Dog of the Month.  This beautiful German Shepard goes by a number of aliases, including Mags, Magpie, and Magatha so be sure to say hi to her in any number of ways, as long as it’s with love.

Maggie was adopted from Westside German Shepard Rescue on September 10, 2011, at a year old. As she approaches her two year anniversary with her family, her parents love her more each day.

maggie tunnelTwo days after they got Maggie, her mom, Sara, took her for a walk. They didn’t know her that well yet, and she was staying very close to Sara.  As Sara commented on how well Maggie was doing on a leash, Maggie suddenly got scared of her own shadow, tried to take off, and pulled Sara forward so hard that she broke her finger in two places.  Sara has had two surgeries to fix her middle finger and she still cannot fully bend it.  But instead of being upset, Sara looks at it as a reminder of how much she loves Maggie.

Maggie has been coming into the Zoom Room Sherman Oaks for Agility classes and Private Gyms, and has become a shining star at the tunnel.  Although still a little shy around new people and dogs, Maggie is a sweetheart and the most loving and fiercely loyal dog anyone could ask for. Her attentiveness and intelligence shine through with her parents.  Sara says it’s as if she knows what they are thinking —  a quality that makes her even better at running Agility courses.

Her parents love to spend quality time with her, whether it’s taking her to Zoom Room, hiking, or just snuggling on the couch.  When mom and dad watch TV, she plays with her favorite toy, which is anything squeaky, loud, and annoying.  Her parents think Maggie knows exactly what she’s doing during situations like this!

When she’s not trying to drown out the sound of the TV with her squeaky toys, she loves having a ball thrown for her, and she enjoys munching on carrots, bully sticks, and peanut butter.

Maggie has enhanced her parents’ lives in so many ways.  They love her so much and couldn’t imagine their life without her.  Congratulations to Maggie and her family!  Come enjoy more quality time together on us, with a free four-pack of private gyms!
