My name is Lincoln and I am an energetic 7 year old flat-coated retriever born in Olympia WA. I did puppy classes at the Seattle Zoom Room when I was little and am now enjoying agility classes. I love running around on all the equipment, going as fast as I can through the tunnel and making as much noise as possible going over the teeter totter. The only problem is that they let my handler come along and he is pretty slow and always wants me to do things in a different way than I do. I know that it’s okay to skip a jump to do the dog walk and that you waste valuable time if you go through all of the weave poles but my handler has treats so I humor him and do it his way sometimes.
In my spare time I work with King County Search Dogs and my favorite thing is racing through forests and mountains using my nose to locate people. I then go find my slow handler and bring him to the person to get my reward toy. I have regional and national certifications in airscent (working off lead to find lost people) and human remains detection so I sometimes help police at crime scenes. I am on call 24/7 365 days a year and have responded to almost 100 search missions all over western Washington. In 2022 the AKC gave me a national award for finding lost people with dementia (https://youtu.be/CZRcDGa0g5E). I received a nice medallion but they won’t let me chew it.
Lincoln’s owner, Jon & Edith, had this to say:
Lincoln loves to search more than anything in the world and is always super excited to find people. We’re still negotiating how to do agility courses.
