Hi! I’m Charlie. I’m half Boston Terrier and half French Bulldog (aka, Froston or Frenchston). I was born October 25, 2016 in Bonnie Lake, WA. My human mom said I was a Christmas present to herself when I came home with her two days before Christmas. She was a first time dog mom, so I took it easy on her. I sat quietly on my auntie’s lap for the hour ride home and didn’t whimper when I was put in the tub because she forgot to pick up a kennel. My feline brother jumped in the tub and cuddled with me the first night and I slept the entire night. Since then I have slept throughout the night and I like to sleep in on Sundays.
Mom put me in Puppy Day Camp and Puppy Kindergarten right away. She was told to take me everywhere and introduce me to all sorts of people, places and things (except dog parks). So began my life of a gym dog. Mom coaches Olympic Weightlifting at night and I became the new gym dog and assistant coach. She said time and repetition works for weightlifting, so it must work for dog training. When I became too old for day camp, we started at the Zoom Room because it was close to home. Little did we know how much fun it would be and now we can’t get enough of it. In March, we started with Puppy 2 Obedience and Puppy Agility and now I’m in Obedience 2 and just graduated to Agility 3! Mom and I are becoming a stronger and better team. She can mix her commands at time, but I am patient. Sometimes I get a little sleepy during class, but I always make it through. I hope to become a Canine Good Citizen and possibly compete in Agility.
When I’m not coaching or training, I am hiking, exploring new parts of Western Washington, shopping (not my favorite), chasing my feline sister up the stairs or playing with my friends. I have explored several trails this summer and I went to the Olympic National Forest. I get over stimulated with all the scents and like to pull my mom up and down the trails. I think she secretly likes it when I pull her up the hills. My leash skills improve a little bit each day. This time next year, I will have better leash skills on the trails and mom will have to pull herself up the mountain.
I am so honored to be the Dog of the Month during Zoom Room’s Anniversary month. They have made training fun and exciting.
