🧘♂️ Creating a Calm Environment
Before we reach for gear or gadgets, let’s focus on the vibe. What can you do to help your dog settle?
-
🎶 Play classical or spa-style music. Just ask your smart speaker to play something relaxing.
-
🪟 Draw the blinds to reduce outside triggers like passing dogs, delivery trucks, or deer.
-
🧺 Teach a “Settle” Spot. Whether it’s a mat, bed, or crate, this gives your dog a predictable place to relax and decompress.
🧠 Tools for Engagement
Now that the energy is down, let’s give them something to do—calmly and independently.
-
🦴 Lickimats and snuffle mats are excellent for mental enrichment without overstimulation.

📺 Dog-friendly YouTube videos like the one above can offer light visual and audio engagement.
-
🧩 Think atmosphere, not just tools. These aren’t just distractions—they’re purposeful parts of your dog’s calming routine.
✨ The Combo is the Key:
The environment you create + the tools you provide = a dog that can relax and stay engaged. It’s a simple way to support your dog’s success in and out of class.
🧠 And don’t forget:
Even just 15–20 minutes a day of practicing what you’ve learned at Zoom Room can go a long way. A little mental stimulation each day helps your dog feel accomplished and tired in the best way.
