Consistency Over Perfection: Training Your Dog Even When Life Gets Hectic
Let’s be honest—life is busy. Between work, errands, family, and a to-do list that never ends, finding time to train your dog might feel like just one more thing. But here’s the good news: training doesn’t require perfection. It just requires consistency.
At Zoom Room Colorado Springs, we’re dog lovers, trainers, and busy humans too. We get it. That’s why we’re here to remind you that dog training doesn’t need to be a marathon. In fact, it’s more like a series of quick sprints.
How Much Time Do You Really Need?
We recommend setting aside 15 to 20 minutes a day to train your dog at home. But if that sounds overwhelming, don’t sweat it. Can’t do 20? Do 10. Only have 2 minutes while your coffee brews? That counts, too. Even 30 seconds of reinforcing a cue like “sit” or “stay” keeps the momentum going.
Consistency > Perfection every single time.
Training Is a Break for You, Too
Here’s a secret: training isn’t just good for your dog—it’s good for you. When you’re buried in work or stress, pausing for a game of tug, a few quick recalls, or a trick session can clear your head and lift your mood. Your email inbox will still be there in 15 minutes, but that wagging tail and moment of connection? That’s priceless.
