High-Energy Rescue Takes Top Honors

Bella and her brother

Bella is a two-year-old mix who almost looks like a mini Brindle Pit Bull, but her beyond that, her heritage is vague.

Two years ago, Bella was a puppy looking for love at the South Los Angeles Animal Shelter.  Her mom-to-be, Joslyn, was shopping for kibble for her other dog, Roscoe, when the pair decided to pop in to the shelter and look around.  There, they spotted little Bella up for adoption and the rest is history!

Bella loves to go running with her dad.   She loves it so much, in fact, that she has her own set of running shoes so she doesn’t hurt her paw pads.

She is high, high energy and LOVES food of all kinds, including lettuce.  Bella’s great at snatching treats out of the air and will even bounce off walls to catch them.  Because she likes to “wolf” down her food, she is usually hand-fed throughout the day and given meals in food puzzles.

At night, when Bella is ready for bed, her favorite spot is lying directly on top of her brother (and smashing him) or snuggling deep under the covers.

Bella loves Scent Discrimination class, where she practically demolishes the box with the scent to get at her treat.  Mom Joslyn says that she is working to find a more subtle signal for Bella.

Bella has been awarded a free five-pack of Open Gyms where she can come play and burn off some of that excess energy!  Congratulations, Bella!
