Hi! I’m Aspen. I’m a golden retriever, and I’m almost 1 1/2 years old. I started coming to zoom room as a puppy and the trainers are some of my favorite people! I love all people but I’m trying really hard to learn to be a calm boy in public places and control my excitement but it can be so hard when everyone clearly wants to give me attention. Sometimes, I wear a fancy vest and get to go to special places like the grocery store, but I have to focus really hard and be on my best performance. It’s so exhausting being a working dog and trying to ignore everything around me and sometimes I can’t help but try to catch a stray smell of the meat section. My favorite game is finding one particular smell that I get the best treats for! And also fetch, and tug, and running around. My best friend is Mango, a very small dog with fancy retractable claws. He makes some different sounds than I do but I love to play with him anyways!
Aspen’s owner, Meredith & Ryan, had this to say:
Aspen is a great dog and is getting smarter and smarter every day, but he’s still just as goofy as when we got him as a puppy. He’s our first dog, and it’s been fun (and very hard) learning how to train him and how to be good dog owners. He has progressed so far in his obedience classes and he got his CGC a few months ago. Aspen is training to be a diabetic alert dog and he has really matured lately. We can’t wait to see where he’ll go with his training, and we can’t thank zoom room enough for all the help along the way!
