Jilli the Yorkie: Goodwill Ambassador

Jilli Dog, a Yorkie, was rescued from the streets as a sickly, messy little pup, almost 11 years ago by her owner, Rick. She has gone on to become a most amazing little pooch, making many people smile with her dog trick performances.

In addition to putting on a great show, Jilli also brings smiles during her Therapy Dog visits. She is the Goodwill Ambassador for Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue, and takes part in many fundraisers for any number of rescue organizations around the country.

Here’s what Rick has to say about dog trick training:

I started training dogs at about age seven, when I used to hang out at the local dog pound in the 50’s! I first started training the dogs that I thought were the “smartest,” but I soon realized that every dog, no matter how old, shy, slow or rascally, could learn something if you show them love, affection and the pure joy of communicating! They live for that! Teaching them tricks is a great way to accomplish that…
