Let the Games Begin!

Bring your dog and enjoy dog agility demonstrations by the Zoom Room, a Shelter Dog Fashion Show in which pups from spcaLA and Best Friends will strut their stuff, and two great contests that you can enter with your dog.

Silly Dog Trick Contest

The first is the SILLY DOG TRICK CONTEST. Dogs of all breeds and ages are invited to enter and show off your absolutely silliest dog trick. Winners will receive great prizes from the vendors, as well as their own Marley and Me: The Puppy Years DVD! There’s no cost to enter. The only requirement – besides a great sense of humor – is that you provide proof of your dog’s current vaccination records prior to the event.

Ultimate Puppy Championship

The adorable sequel to Marley and Me follows the adventures of Marley as a puppy, and features some wonderful scenes of agility training. Many people don’t realize that agility is great for puppies, as long as it is practiced safely on equipment that adjusts to their small size. Puppy agility isn’t about strenuous athletics, which can be rough on growing joints and muscles, but is rather a great way for puppies to develop better balance, coordination, communication skills, and terrific self-confidence.

At The Grove, we will recreate the movie’s finale, in which the pups take part in the ULTIMATE PUPPY CHAMPIONSHIP. The Zoom Room will set up a modified agility course just for puppies. Any puppy under the age of one year old is welcome to enter. As with the tricks contest, there is no cost to enter, but proof of vaccines commensurate with age is required prior to the event. In addition to competing for best time (and great prizes), puppies will also receive Cute Points from the judges as they make their way through the course.

We look forward to seeing everyone at The Grove on August 13th!
