Your Best Friend’s Love Can Help Others!

Benefits of Therapy Dogs

Dogs can give us so much in life. Whether they are a quiet lap dog, a rambunctious playful pup, or just a loving addition to your family, our dogs become our best friends. Therapy dog training helps pass that love on to others who need it most.

A therapy dog is a well tempered, well socialized, and happy dog who helps put a smile on people’s faces. Therapy dogs have many jobs that they can perform. The most common therapy dog is the Therapeutic Visitation dog. These dogs are well-trained household pets whose owners take the time to visit hospitals, nursing homes, detention facilities, and rehabilitation facilities. These dogs visit those that are not able to be at home with their loved ones for many reasons. These visitations brighten the day, lift spirits, and help motivate others in their therapy or treatment.

Many stories have come out recently about how animals can lift the spirits of those in need. After the tragedy in Newtown, CT, therapy dogs were brought in to bring comfort to the children and families. Just being able to talk to or pet a cheerful therapy dog can have a great positive outcome.
