Austin Statesman Visits Zoom Room

The Austin Statesman recently examined trends in pet fitness in Austin, showcasing Zoom Room Austin and interviewing owner and head trainer Michele Mendoza.

On a recent night, seven dogs and their owners took an advanced agility class at Zoom Room. In the group were Austinites Claire and Russ Perkins with Angel, one of their three standard poodles. The session covered activities such as the teeter-totter and weave poles.

“She’s a puppy,” Claire Perkins said. “It’s a confidence builder. We’re trying to give her the concept of obeying my husband.”

Also, she said the exercises, in addition to the dog’s morning walks, were a way to keep Angel’s mind active.

“She’s a really good instructor,” Perkins said as Mendoza led the dogs and owners through a series of exercises during the hour-long class.
